Jeffrey - Assembly Fitter

My work is very varied and flexible. As an Assembly Fitter, I often work on the site of the customer to install a new system or carry out maintenance work. This work is highly specific, and because our customers are based mainly in other countries, I often have to travel abroad to assemble new lines. We maintain close contact with the customer to ensure the installation of the machinery proceeds as smoothly as possible. We go to the customer’s premises with a team of Houdijk fitters. Once the system has been worked out in detail by Engineering, in my capacity as Assembly Fitter I examine all the drawings to determine how the machine fits together and how everything must be assembled. Because we offer customer-specific solutions, every project is a new challenge.

I was in Italy recently, as part of a team of around 16 colleagues, to assemble a system incorporating many new techniques for a major biscuit manufacturer.
